In the Uspensky Cathedral

In the Uspensky Cathedral
(The picture by Vereschagin)

During the occupation in Moscow many churches and cathedrals made of stone and remained after the fire were turned into stores, stables and barracks by the French. On this picture you see one of the oldest Moscow cathedrals - the Uspensky Cathedral in the Kremlin and the horses and French soldiers in it. What it was and how the French treated the Russian holy things you can see here by yourself.
Maybe such things was one more cause of the hard partisan war against the French in that a lot of common Russian civilian people took part together with military forces.
