The Borodino Battle

This is a picture by artist Desarno, he was a Frenchman and served in Napoleon's Great Army. He took part in the Russian campaign of 1812 and was captured in one of the battles. Afterwards he stayed in Russia and became an academician of the Russian Academy of Arts. On this picture you can see one of the episodes of this great battle. In the centre on the picture there is a figure of a Russian general on horseback. General of Cavalry Count (Graf) Fedor Uvarov. Not far behind him you can see Commander of Guard Cossacks Count (Graf) Vasily Orlov-Denisov.
